After a night at anchor deep inside Poole Harbour, sheltering from NE wind behind Brownsea Island, we headed to Poole Harbour Quay. Ivor and Marina had arrived by train from London at 9.00 and were waiting for us when Follyfin hove into view. Coffee on board and then we were off down the Swash Channel, headed for Weymouth, around St Albans Head. A cold day as you can see from the photos. But we were able to sail all the way - 30 miles - which was a bonus.
Moored up alongside the Town Quay, and lucky we got there early as several other boats rafted up beside us. Dinner aboard and then a stroll round the charming old town where there is still lots of evidence of the seafaring history of the place. Today, Sunday, we will rest and recuperate. We will go and do some fishing today and anchor for lunch in Worbarrow Bay or Lulworth Cove. Ivor and Marina head back to London tonight and then tomorrow we will tackle the infamous Portland Bill, heading west towards Torquay or Dartmouth.
