The Last Leg

Just beginning to settle back into home life and really enjoy home comforts of showers on demand, fully flushing WC, washing machine, microwave, electric kettle etc. Before we get too comfortable, it must be time for us to embark again on the final part of Follyfin's UK Tour of Britain. The last 2 days have been spent oscillating between pilot books, Olympic coverage, charts, Olympic coverage, maps, Olympic coverage etc. etc. - hence the delay in publishing our proposed schedule. But, as promised, here it is at last. Precise dates have not been given in the itinerary because tides and weather must be taken into account for final passage planning on the day.  However, if there is any chance you may be near one of our ports of call and would like to come aboard (wine already loaded into the 'hold'), scroll down the page to see the provisional schedule shown at the very bottom. Itinerary

Week 1: 12/8/12-18/8/12

Hartlepool, Whitby, Bridlington, Hull, Wells-next-the-Sea.

Week 2: 19/8/12-25/8/12

Lowestoft, Southwold, Orford (R Ore), Woodbridge (R Deben), Woolverstone (R Orwell)

Week 3: 26/8/12-1/9/12

Pyefleet (R Colne), Burnham-on-Crouch, Whitstable or East Swale (Isle of Sheppey), Medway, London Tower Bridge - Da Daaaa!

Yes, we aim to arrive in town on Friday 31st August. This will be a red-letter day as it will mark the official end-point of the 2012 UK Tour for Follyfin! She will have not quite completed the full circumnavigation (we began the tour at Eastbourne back in early May - you remember of course!) and the final section of about 80-90 miles from Whitstable round North Foreland past Dover and thence to Eastbourne will have to wait till next year. So we hope London-based friends and relatives will be able to join us aboard on the evening of Friday 31 August for a small celebration ... assuming we don't get stuck on one of the many East coast sand banks in the meantime! Follyfin will remain in central London for the weekend 1/2 September - opportunity for further rendez-vous with anyone who can't make the Friday night celebrations - before heading north again for home and overwintering. Still unsure whether the latter will be at Hull or Newcastle, hence the alternative destinations shown below at the end of our voyage.
