Friday evening - the lull |
 |
Saturday evening - storm brewing |
Unfortunately not, no. Gale force winds have kept us pinned down on pontoon in Itchenor Reach. Apologies to anyone who might have been looking for an update yesterday, my 'draft' post created last night, as the winds were increasing, was inadvertently deleted when our 3G signal was lost! To summarise, the weather has delayed our embarkation date by at least one day and maybe more.

Dismantling the water system |

The Engineer in tight spot |
But we have not been wasting time. Stores have been stowed (48 litres water, 10 litres wine (maybe quantities should be reversed?), 24 litres long life milk, lots of tins, 8 packs oat cakes etc. etc). Mick has climbed the 20 metre mast to restore the anemometer, whilst being belayed by yours truly with the help of a handy winch I hasten to add - well I do need him for the rest of the voyage..., discovered a major leak in the water system by going down a very small hole - and got it fixed, not to mention lifting the extremely heavy life raft from inside the boat back into position on the stern.

Splicing chain to warp |
Now my signal has been restored, thought I should get this post uploaded ASAP in case anyone thought we might be battling high seas at this very moment. Not a chance! Mick is currently engaged in splicing the anchor chain to an 8-stranded rope (or warp to get the right terminology)and I am ... well, keeping everyone informed - what I do best!
